How to Play Backgammon on an Egyptian Wood Board Inlaid with Mother of Pearl
Setup:
1.Board Orientation: Position the board so that each player has their home board on their right.
2.Pieces: Each player has 15 checkers (traditionally one color for each player).
3.Starting Position:
- Place two checkers on your 24-point.
- Place five checkers on your 13-point.
- Place three checkers on your 8-point.
- Place five checkers on your 6-point.
Objective
- The goal is to move all your checkers into your home board and then bear them off before your opponent.
Game Play:
1.Rolling Dice: Players take turns rolling two dice.
- Moving Checkers:
- Move your checkers according to the numbers rolled.
- You may split the roll between two checkers or move one checker the total of both rolls.
- You can move to an open point (unoccupied, occupied by your own checkers, or occupied by one opposing checker).
3.Blotting: If you land on a point occupied by a single opposing checker, you "hit" it, sending it to the bar.
4.Entering from the Bar: If you have checkers on the bar, you must enter them onto the opponent's home board before making other moves.
Bearing Off
- Once all your checkers are in your home board, you can start bearing off.
- Roll the dice and remove checkers from the corresponding points.
- If you roll a number higher than the points of your remaining checkers, you can bear off from the highest point.
#### Winning
- The first player to bear off all their checkers wins the game.
